ANNUAL ROTARY BLOOD DRIVE...

|
Dr. Russell A. Fairlie of Horsham, a member of the Rotary Club of Hatboro, follows instructions from a Red Cross nurse and puts pressure on his arm after donating blood at a drive the club organized. The club’s annual blood drive this year drew more than 50 potential donors to the Williamson Restaurant in Horsham. |
THE POLIOPLUS PROJECT Fifteen years ago, the Rotary Club of Hatboro set out to raise $12,000 as its share of Rotary International's aggressive drive to raise $120,000,000 worldwide to eradicate polio and five other childhood diseases. When the fundraising ended in May 1988, Hatboro had secured more than $25,000 without cutting back on any of its community commitments.
Hatboro Rotarians are hoping history repeats itself with the launch of a series of fund-raisers planned to help the club meet its commitment to help Rotary International complete the mission begun in 1985 and wind up its "PolioPlus" project by 2005.
The Hatboro club has pledged $10,000 over a three-year period and held a flea market/raffle in the spring of 2003 to start the fund-raising effort. With a contribution from Hatboro Federal Savings, the club raised $3,000 toward its goal.
